Hi,
You have expressed interest in booking an appointment with me, Nathalie Mat. I’d like to tell you about my services so you know what to expect and how much it will cost. If I have not answered all your questions, please drop me an email or WhatsApp 071 972 1276 (contact details are also in the header of this page). I look forward to meeting you and helping you find your unique recipe for health!
What to expect during your first appointment (full nutritional assessment and meal plan)
The full nutritional assessment and nutrition plan are made up of two appointments. The first appointment is a full nutritional assessment that takes ninety minutes. I will ask you many questions about your medical history, family medical history as well as your current lifestyle. Please bring along any supplements and/or chronic medication that you take. If you have had recent blood tests done, please bring these too although I can order copies from your lab and if necessary, we can order new lab tests if needed. I use this information build the complete picture needed to create your individualized nutrition plan. I will measure your height, weight, waist circumference and body fat percentage if you want, you can also opt out of this if you do not want to be weighed.
The second appointment is 30 minutes long and usually occurs between 2-5 days after the first appointment. During this session I explain the personalized nutrition plan I have made for you. This plan is made according to your goals. If you want, this can include a 5-day meal plan with recipes and portion sizes that take into consideration your goals, lifestyle, and personal preferences. I may also make recommendations for supplements if needed. Every person is different, some people prefer guidelines without portion sizes.
The cost of the initial assessment is R1250 and the collection of the meal plan is R990. The codes of the assessment are: 84210 for the initial assessment, 84203 for the meal plan collection, 84202 for follow-up appointments, and 84203 for mini-nutrition assessments. Each medical aid pays slightly different amounts so please contact your medical aid to find out how much they cover.
Follow up/progress and monitoring appointments
How often you come back depends on your goals. Research shows that people who follow-up regularly with their dietitian are more likely to meet their nutrition goals. Every person is different and you may need a little or lots of support. My role is to motivate and support you and to help you reach your goals. New recipes may be given and new goals are set. Areas of difficulty are also addressed during follow-up. I consider myself a nutrition cheerleader and my role is to help you find the solution that works for you. I am here to support you, even when you feel like you haven’t made progress.
The cost of a follow up appointment is R530.
All appointments are also available virtually or telephonically as needed.
Mini Nutrition Assessment
A Mini Nutrition Consultation is a 30-minute assessment. This assessment replaces the Discovery Vitality nutrition assessment. If you already see a dietitian, you can submit your invoice of 30 minutes or longer for points. The consultation covers topics around diet and lifestyle. Your weight, height, waist circumference and body fat percentage will be measured. You can earn up to 1 000 vitality points by performing one consultation per year. You are welcome to bring along short nutrition-related questions that will be answered, time permitting. The cost of a Mini Nutrition Consultation is R530 and is refundable from your medical savings account. Couples are welcome to attend together, a double nutrition consultation is 60 minutes long.
